OUTLINE: Fall 2015 — Renaissance, Reformation, & Exploration

Greetings Fellow Homeschoolers!

Hope you had a fun and relaxing summer!  It’s almost time for the school year to begin.  Once again I will be posting history lesson plans.  This Fall and Winter I will be posting lessons on the time of the Renaissance, Reformation, & Exploration.  The lessons will be similar in format to lessons you’ve already seen and used from this “U Read Thru History” site.  Each week readings will be suggested for different grade levels, discussion questions will be listed, and activities will be suggested per grade level.  I hope and pray these lessons will be a blessing to you and your family!

Greetings Fellow Homeschoolers!  Throughout the summer, in response to numerous requests, I will be posting book lists that correspond with each unit study on this U READ Thru History blog.   Following is a list of titles (organized by grade level) that will be used for the Year 4 unit study on the Civil War Era (see the tab at the top of this blog).  If your library does not carry these books, you may be able to obtain them through interlibrary loan.  Of course, all of these titles can also be purchased on Amazon.com or abebooks.com.

    * Note: Arthur: High King of Britain by Michael Morpurgo gives a more complete version of the tales of King Arthur. Consequently, it tells the tales of many of King Arthur’s knights. It tells of the relationship (adultery) between King Arthur’s queen, Guinievere, and his knight, Lancelot, and it tells of the sorceress, Morgan Le Fay, and the illegitimate birth of King Arthur’s son, Mordred. This book is beautifully and tastefully written, and it is written for junior high school students. However, the subject matter is for more mature students. If you are uncomfortable with this reading material, please have your 7th or 8th grader read the books listed for 5th and 6th graders.
