The winners of the 2016 PHB Homeschool Art Contest have been chosen!PHBART

Special thanks to all the students who participated!  You did a fantastic job!  We can tell that you all worked very hard.  I hope more art contests can be hosted on this blog in the future.  Please try again!  The winners have been notified and will be receiving their prizes from the sponsors shortly.  You can see their winning artwork displayed below.

Art Contest participants were judged based on the following criteria:

  1. Artwork portrayed theme of “Science & Technology”
  2. Design/Composition
  3. Craftmanship/Skill
  4. Creativity & Originality
  5. Aesthetically Pleasing

Category 6th – 8th grades:

1st Place: Naomi, a traditional homeschooler in Grade 6 from Flemington, WV, for her artwork entitled “Trapped in Technology”.

Phenomenal artwork for a 6th grade student!


2nd Place: Sarah, a traditional homeschooler in Grade 6 from Lumberton, NJ, for her artwork entitled “A Scientist at Work”.  

The judges loved her bold colors and simple design.


3rd Place: Faith, a traditional homeschooler in Grade 6 from Milford, MI for her artwork entitled “Mad Scientist”.  

The judges loved her attention to detail.

Category 3rd – 5th grades:

1st Place: Sophia, a traditional homeschooler in Grade 3 from Collinsville, IL, for her artwork entitled “Man on the Moon”.  

The judges loved her wonderful use of water color paints.


2nd Place: Grace, a traditional homeschooler in Grade 5 from Cypress, Texas, for her artwork entitled “Researching the Past”.  

The judges loved her creative use of scientific images.  Check out the test-tube burning through the table!


3rd Place: Noah, a traditional homeschooler in Grade 5 from Romeoville, IL for his artwork entitled “Solar System Tour Fleet — Passing Jupiter”.  

The judges loved his bold colors.

Category K – 2nd grades:

1st Place: Alex, a traditional homeschooler in Grade K from Philadelphia, PA, for his artwork entitled “Teslas Go Driving with No Pollution”.  

Teslas are electric cars that create no pollution.  Creative image of modern technology!


2nd Place: Norah, a traditional homeschooler in Grade 2 from Portage, MI for her artwork entitled “Portals into the World”.  

Creative way to show the power of a simple scientific tool — the magnifying glass.


3rd Place: Elizabeth, a  traditional homeschooler in Grade 1 from Park Falls, WI for her artwork titled “Exploding Experiments”.
